How did you come to powerlifting or Olympic lifting?
Started a class at the gym that had Olympic and power and really liked power, so I found a gym that specializes in it. I currently hold 7 Arizona records for my age/wt class.
Do you have any previous athletic or lifting experience?
Do you compete? Why or why not? If you compete, what do you like most about the competitions?
I do compete and have done 2 competitions. One comp was drug screened. I have 6 records in that division. The other is non-drug screened and I hold deadlift only at 309.7. I like the morale of everyone competing. They really push and cheer each other on.
Equipped or Raw?
Do you have a coach or trainer? In person or online? How did you find your trainer/program? Do you have any advice for women looking for a trainer?
I have a trainer at my lifting gym. She is one of the owners. Die Hard Gym Heather Sparkes.
Where do you train? Gym, garage?
Die hard gym in Peoria Arizona
What is the hardest part about beginning lifting as an older woman?
I hate going tinkle as I deadlift.
How has lifting affected your health?
I have gotten a lot stronger and healthier.
What would you tell women just beginning this journey?
Don’t give up!
